Radar – 1 AN/FPS-93A, 1 AN/FPS-90, 1 AN/GPX-7A, 1 AN/GPX-14, 1 AN/GPA-30, 1 AN/GPS-T2A, 6 OA-175 PPI, 2 OA-99 PPI, 1 AN/GPS-T-4, 1 AN/GPS-T2, 2 OA-929, 6 UPA-35 PPI, 3 RD-142A.

Commanders:

During this reporting period a new Personnel Officer Captain Allan D Keefer was assigned to this unit. Also a new First Sgt., M/Sgt. Jack A Fletcher, was assigned during this time. Plans for an Airman’s Annex to the NCO Club were formulated and were subsequently approved by 1^st Air Force. Morale of the unit was at an all time high.

Operations:

During this reporting period two non-commissioned officers assigned to the Operations Section were awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. Technical Sergeant Wade E Fink was presented the Air Force Commendation Medal for his outstanding performance in the training branch at Headquarters 29^th Air Division, Duluth Minnesota. Staff Sergeant Jesus A Juarez was presented the same award for his outstanding performance in the weapons section at Headquarters 34^th Air Division, Custer Air Force Station, Battle Creek, Michigan. The Operations Training Branch has undergone a complete changeover due to the rotation of personnel. This unit participated in the Operational Readiness Evaluation of the Northern NORAD Region conducted in May 1967. We received many favorable comments from our parent Headquarters concerning our activities during this evaluation. In addition the Operations Section has undergone numerous live and simulated exercises during this period and this practise has greatly enhanced our mission capabilities.

Mr. Peter M Hiebert, Canadian Marconi CTSP, departed for Montreal upon completion of his company’s contract. The maintenance support for the NORAD Operational Evaluation conducted in May 1967 was considered to be excellent. 37^th Air Division performed their semi-annual Quality Control Inspection 5 June 67 through 9 June 67 and adjudged this unit’s CEM Complex to be Outstanding.

Unit Supply:

During this quarter 1^st Lt. Elin was reassigned and he was replaced by 1^st Lt. David A Young. Materiel Control received two very favorable comments from the 37^th Air Division Quality Control Inspection Team.

Recreation Services:

During this reporting period Mr. Gerald Boland from Stephenville was assigned as recreation supervisor. Seven airmen from this unit completed a fifty mile hike from Stephenville to Cornerbrook in an unofficial tribute to Canada’s Centennial. Also in May intra-section dart competition was initiated. This competition provided a great deal of sport for this unit. With the advent of the salmon fishing season weekly fishing trips were organized by Mr. Boland. These trips were highlighted by the weekend of June 17^th in which twenty-one salmon were caught. New materials for the leather and photo hobby shops were purchased and both shops are being well utilized by site personnel. A squadron softball team was organized and at the closeout date of this report the team was still unbeaten. All of these activities have contributed greatly to putting site morale at an all time high.
