Early fog - to cloudy - to clear in evening. F/L Brooks ADC & F/L Cavanaugh, both Security Officers arrived on TD. F/O Niven, 5 Air Div MME and F/L Otto Hack visited to discuss education, etc. with F/O Jegard. There were quite a few people down to the beach to see the lowest tide of the year.

Nice day - sunny. Very few personnel left on the station. Big day at Ucluelet. RCAF team won the ball tourney.

Cloudy - showers. A/C Orr, S/L Martin, arrived. The Guard of Honor was excellent. Entertainment organized for A/C and party. Very successful.

Overcast - cool. Five men left for Vancouver to attend PNE parade. Landscaping still continues. Cpl. Allan on TD Halifax - leaves today. Ball team left for Vancouver yesterday. The case of the missing $300.00 still unsolved. Fishing Derby still in progress.

Cool - overcast. Mr. Wingham’s boat, "Heroine" burned at MacLean’s Dock last night. RCAF fire brigade poured multi gallons of water into the vessel but alas it was an oil flame. A Lancaster has been circling the station this morning.

Overcast - cool. Two airmen reported in yesterday. F/O MacGregor departed on TD for Cold Lake, Alta. Yesterday. LAC Fifield has returned to work from Vancouver Hospital.

Friday - Clear and Cold. Remembrance Day. RCAF representatives attended services and banquet at Tofino. Coldest night of the year – many cars frozen. Unofficial low temperature 10 degrees above zero. CO departed for IAM Toronto, Ontario for medical prior to aircrew refresher course.

Rainy. Snow has almost gone. Mail boat today. Rations delivered very late. Paintings of Airmen’s lounge commenced. Bat alterations progressing slowly.

Cloudy and damp. S/L Fee and S/L Poirier, Protestant and RC Chaplains, 5 Air Div arrived to conduct religious services. Small attendance due to uncertainty of arrival.

Intermittent rain. First Baptisms conducted in Chapel byS/L Fee. Children of F/O McKnights, Sgt. Harris, AC2 Bakker, AC1 Blohm. S/L Poirier departed this afternoon. House basketball league started this evening.

Clear in the morning, rain in the afternoon. TMQ power off most of the day. Canso a/c in from Vancouver with ADC HQ Operational Representatives on tour of western units. Aircraft stayed overnight. S/L Fee returned to Vancouver by PWA.

Rain and more rain today. Canso a/c take-off delayed. F/O Begley departed on TD to Comox for Crackerjack duty. Cpl. Smith departed after two years service at this unit. 10 ACs and ADC HQ representatives departed for Holberg in Canso which crashed in Seymour Narrows off east coast of Vancouver Island. Three deaths and four injuries. Other personnel saved. 242076 AC2 NC Thompson FtrCop is missing. Believed to be dead.

25 Nov 55

Clear and cold. No further word of AC2 Thompson. Information received that survivors hospitalized at Comox and Campbell River. Successful Officer’s dining-in night held.

Grey Cup Day. Great celebrations in Vancouver. Edmonton Eskimos vs. Montreal Alouettes. Eskimos win. TV popular on this day. As usual when good reception is needed it was the worst of the year. There are now 10 TV sets in MQ and the owners seem well satisfied with reception.

Rainy, misty day. Normal weekend routine.

Intermittent showers. Sked due in to transport party to Holberg for Crackerjack, but was delayed due to weather.

Dull and raining. Again the aircraft is expected to transport the boys to Holberg. AOC, ADC due in if weather reasonable. Work on canteen is progressing.

Clear early in the morning to heavy rain by noon. Party still waiting to proceed to Holberg. AOC still slated to arrive on visit. However, if weather continues trip will probably be cancelled out.
