  1. The station was involved in NORAD exercises of various kinds during the last year. These exercises provided training in the usual automated and autonomous operations and in a number of cases, also provided training and practice for the Unit Battle Staff and Base Defence Force. The Station Emergency Defence Plan was also exercised with no shortfalls encountered.
  2. Performance Analysis through Continuous Evaluation (PACE) and equipment availability results were very satisfactory which confirms the excellent quality of maintenance performed on Station Communications Electronic Equipment.
  3. Major monthly activities are as follows:

January 1984

Senior NCO’s Supervisors Seminar was held at CFS Yorkton from 9 to 13 January 1984.

A meeting was held with SASKTEL representatives 30 January 1984 to discuss any problems the station has with SASKTEL’s service and equipment.

The FPS-107 School conducted a course 18 January to 6 March 1984. A total of 6 personnel were qualified, three from CFS Yorkton.

Funeral Parade for Master Seaman Crose at Roblin, Manitoba on 20 February 1984.

March 1984

Winter Carnival held from 1-3 March 1984.

The Yorkton Adult Education Course toured DMCC 9 March 1984.

An Air Cadet Sports Weekend was held at the station 18-18 March 1984. A total of 13 Squadrons participated throughout the two day event.

The Kamsack Air Cadet Squadron toured DMCC 24 March 1984.

Construction and Engineering Staff Visit was conducted by the PACE Shop 27-29 March 1984. Captain Brontmeyer and WO Chambers represented the PACE Program.

RCAF Anniversary of 60 years held on the station. A Mess Dinner was held 30 March 1984.

The following projects that have been completed or are in progress during the period 1 January 1984 to 31 March 1984:

  1. Replace #3 boiler CHP - Boiler has passed the test on gas and oil;
  2. Replace metal siding on CE and MSE Buildings - Completed;
  3. Install Fire Detection System in Rec. Centre - Completed;
  4. Renovate washrooms SQ’s - 90%;
  5. Modify Battery Shop MSE - 95%;
  6. Upgrade Dining Area Combined Mess - Completed;
  7. Provide CATV for MQ’s - Pending;
  8. Install new windows 60 MQ’s - 90%; and
  9. Provide two metal storage buildings for MP’s and a change room for ice rink building for change room has been completed.

April 1984

The FPS-107 conducted major maintenance procedures by changing klystrons from 10 April 1984 to 22 September 1984.

MCpl. Dore was accepted for the UTPM Program and will commence his studies at Royal Roads Military College in September 1984

October 1984

On 19 Oct 1984 a modification was completed changing our height equipment from an FPS-507 to an FPS-6X.

A team headed by Major Tremblay arrived from FGHQ on 1 October 1984 to conduct a Technical Evaluation of equipment and maintenance procedures. The overall results were excellent with only a few minor deficiencies noted.
