Our thanks to everyone who has chipped in with the identification of various buildings. It should be remembered that there could have been varying uses in effect for some of the buildings on the station. What you recall from the 1950s or 1960s may well have changed from what was in effect in the 1970s or 1980s. It sort of reminds me of the way we have all aged. (grin). None the less - here's hoping that these photos manage to take you back down "memory lane".

    We have had a report to the effect that this building could have been the original Combined Mess in the early to mid 1950s.

    In 1953 there were two Quonset Hut buildings side by side. One was for Heavy Equipment parking and the other was our Rec Centre which had a basketball net and lines on the floor for badminton and volleyball. This building is also seen in the next photo.

    It had a gravel box in it back in the 1953-1955 time frame. The building at the extreme right of this photo is the CANEX.

    We have had reports that this building was used by Supply and CE prior to conversion as a Curling Rink.

    This building housed the Orderly Room, Accounts, SWOs office etc. The CO's office was at the far right and the parade grounds was at the far left (in the general location of the yellow truck). Note the door on the right of the building is the side entance to the CO's office.

  33. The remains of this building is a part of what once housed the gymnasium, swimming pool, snack bar, theatre and the bowling alley - 13 September 2003.
    The large door in front of the building (in this photo) is a change from what once existed. We understand that this building was used by CANEX in the 1970s as a Service Station and a warehouse. Gasoline pumps and service bays were also a part of this building in the 1970s.

    Some doors have been added and the roof that used to be flat is now inclined.
