Number 2 Aircraft Control & Warning Unit (AC&WU) was established at Chatham in 1951, making use of the British AMES-11 mobile radar equipment. Personnel from this complex were transferred to the newly constructed Pinetree Line radar station at St. Margarets in 1953.
