Contract for the erection of buildings at Tignish given to contractors, Philips and Matheson of Charlottetown, PEI.

16 Sep 42

Labourers hired and work commenced by contractors.

17 - 30 Sep 42

Effective date of No 24 Detachment, Tignish. Mr W Workman, resident Engineer. Detachment organized to provide an early warning of the approach of hostile aircraft or surface vessels and being part of a chain on the East Coast. Parent Unit No 1 GRS, SUMMERSIDE, PEI Detachment located approximately 12 miles south of North Point, PEI, and 1 1/2 miles from the East Shore, a distance of 60 miles beyond the parent unit. Tignish nearest rail point 3 miles distant.

Strength 2359 hours, 30th September, 1942 - Nil. W & B Assst Engineer (civilian) - 1.
