FS Mackay, GL, PT & D returned to the unit from Dartmouth Station Hospital. Due to a bad case of ulcers this NCO has been pronunced medically un-fit and will be discharged as soon as necessary actin can be taken. This is indeed a hard blow to this Unit as this airman is of outstanding character and well liked by all personnel. The message sent by Mr GG Powers to all RCAF Units and in which he thanked all RCAF personnel for their loyalty etc, was received here at 1656 hours. Six Radar Operators and one Service Police arrived on the Unit from No. 1 Release Centre, Halifax. The addition of these airmen to our strength makes possible a more efficient effort in all sections. During the past few months the badly depleted strength added to the shoulders of all personnel a much greater burden under which they were becoming greviously dissatisfied. Sgts Corcoran, DP, Ritchie, J; LAC Ferguson RJ and AC1 Smith, BR (W&B) from No 1 GRS, Summerside, installed space heater in MT section.

Weather - overcast and mild, with light rain. Imperial Oil Co.'s truck was on the Unit bringing in reserve supply of fuel oil for winter months. A 'social evening' was held in the Recreational Hall, the film "The Hairy Ape' was shown, after which dancing took place. The evening was a huge success. Cpl O'Donnell, WJ (Service Police) arrived on the Unit; the number of Service Police are now approaching establishment thus improving security and decorum of the Unit as nothing else would.

25 Nov 44

Weather - partly cloudy and cool. F/O Charyk and F/L McMillan returned to No 1 GRS Summerside by GMT having completed all CT tests and interviews. The personnel of the Unit are much benefited by the information derived from the Personnel Counsellor and Educational Officer.

26 Nov 44

Weather - partly cloudy and cool with some rain. Little activity in the air due to weather conditions. R.C. Church run to Tignish in the morning - six airmen attended. The film "Dr. Renault's Strange Case' was shown in the evening and was much enjoyed by airmen and their guests.

27 Nov 44

Weather - partly cloudy and cool. A telephone call from the town of Alberton reported an aircraft in distress off shore. This information was passed to filter room; later Filter Officer informed NCO on duty that said aircraft had landed safely at No 1 GRS Summerside.

28 Nov 44

Weather - fairly strong wind blowing, partly cloudy and cool. LAC Peloquin, PAA (Chef) posted to Goose Bay effective 15th December. Administrative staff very busy at this time. Orderly Room Clerk worked until a very late hour as is not unusual. There is too much work for one man. Hockey rink is ready for flooding when weather becomes cold enough. Personnel have taken a great interest in this work and it is felt that a good deal of enjoyment will be derived from this form of entertainment during the winter months. A dance was held in the K of C Hut, Tignish and most of the airmen not on duty attended.
