Queensport, NS

The building on the left, the front half of one wing of a "H" Hut was the NCO's Quarters. However, the two rooms on the front were the Hospital and the Hospital Assistant's office. The rear part of that wing was the Recreation Hall. My room, which I shared with Radar Mechanic Art Cartlidge, is just out of sight on the left. The Airmen's Barracks occupied the full length of the other half of the "H" Hut.

The larger building, center right to the right margin, housed, first of all, the kitchen, walk-in meat cooler, pantry, etc. The Mess Hall was next, the one with all the windows. The Furnace Room projected from the main building. That is the one with the larger chimney. The rest of that building, the final row of windows, was the Canteen.

Appearing more as a shadow than a building in front of and below the right end of the Canteen were the coal burners.

Hidden from view by the Barracks is the MT Section and a workshop, and to the right by the Mess Hall/Canteen building, and beyond that, the guardhouse.

The entrance to this Mess Hall/Canteen building was on the other side. It opened first into a small room where we had cupboards and shelves which served as a library for books supplied by IODE.

The snow has melted off everything except for the rocks and the buildings.
