Two sections 133(F) and one section 135(F) Sqn scrambled to intercept and shoot down Japanese balloon. Balloon shot down in vicinity of Abbotsford at 27,000 ft. Balloon recovered on ground.

Ceiling unlimited. High scattered - thin scattered in morning. Broken in afternoon. Visibility 1/4 mile. Ground fog. 03:15 hours - Filter reported a u/s aircraft lost in the vicinity of Juan de Fuca Straits. We were unable to pass any plots.

Ceiling unlimited. Ground haze. Visibility 2 miles, clearing to CAVU in afternoon. Signal from WAC advised No 8 Radio Unit to become inoperative on 15 Sep/45 and disbanded on 30 Sep/45. Load of lumber brought in for crating purposes, otherwise operations normal.

Ceiling unlimited. Visibility unlimited. Message from S/L Mills at Filter stated that the Filter Phone Line was to be disconnected. 1210 hours - Filter Line cut off. Operations - normal routine until 1210 hours. Wire from WAC - F/O McKenzie to remain at Filter for Inventory Clearance and to report to No 8 Radio Unit on the morning of September 18, 1945.
