FORMATION OF RADIO DETACHMENTS

APPENDIX "A": Locations and Parent Units.
INFORMATION
1. The necessity of early detection and warning of the approach of hostile aircraft requires the formation of Radio Detachments in coastal areas.
INTENTION
2. It is intended to form Radio Detachments.
EXECUTION
Formation
3. Radio Detachments are to form at the location and on the effective dates set forth in Appendix "A".
Command
4. Officers will be appointed to command these Radio Detachments.
Control
5. Radio Detachments are to be administered by their parent Units but controlled operationally in accordance with Appendix "A".
Establishments
6. Establishments for these Radio Detachments will be issued under separate cover as required.
Personnel
7. AMP, in collaboration with AMAS, is to arrange for the posting of personnel in accordance with the appropriate establishments.
Mechanical Transport and Marine Craft
8. AMS is to arrange for the supply of Mechanical Transport and Marine Craft in accordance with the appropriate establishments.
Other Equipment
9. (a) Secret:
AMS in collaboration with AMAS (D of S), is to arrange for the supply of secret equipment.
(b) Non-Secret
AMS is to arrange for the supply of all other equipment in accordance with the approved scales.
10. The Air Officers Commanding the appropriate Commands are to be responsible for instituting the procedure set forth in Equipment Administration Order No Q.37/3, regarding "inabilities" for equipment at Radio Detachments.
Publications, Forms and Stationery (Non-Secret)
11. The Commanding Officers of parent Units are to be responsible for the supply of the neessary publications, forms and stationery required by Radio Detachments.
Communications
12. AMAS (D of S) is to arrange for provision of landline and/or wireless communications.
ADMINISTRATION
Accounting
13. Radio Detachments are to be attached to parent Units as listed in Appendix "A" for purposes of pay and equipment accounting.
Accomodation
14. AMAS (Dof S) is to arrange necessary accommodation for these Detachments.
Discipline
15.Parent Units are to be responsible for the discipline of Radio Detachments, as listed in Appendix "A". When Detachments are situated in isolated localities, the Commanding Officer of the parent Unit is to delegate to the Officer Commanding the Radio Detachment disciplinary powers in accordance with existing regulations.
Medical and Dental Services
16. The Air Officer Commanding the appropriate Command is to arrange for Medical and Dental Services as and when required and for periodical visits by a Medical Officer.
INTERCOMMUNICATION
Reporting
17. The Air Officer Commanding the appropriate Command is to report to AMAS (D of S) as each Detachment becomes fully operational.
Security
18. It is vital that the security of the equipment handled by these Detachments be safeguarded at all times, and the attention of all concerned is drawn to the appropriate orders and instructions in this regard, which are promulgated from time to time.
