DATE: 22 May, 1944.
REF: WAC'S letter

(1)To: AMO (DRP)

Subject: Installation of 75 mm Guns.

Units Affected:

No 9 RD, Spider Island
No 10 RD, Cape Scott
No 11 RD, Ferrer Point
No 26 RD, Langara Island
No 27 RD, Marble Island
No 28 RD, Cape St. James.

1. Proposal

Western Air Command advises that guns for the above locations have been received from the Army and are being held pending installation. The siting of these guns has been carried out in conjunction with RCA Officers. A delay has resulted in obtaining the siting at each Detachment as considerable difficulty was encountered in obtaining the site most practical, bearing in mind the requirements of a large arc of fire.

Western Air Command considers that these guns can be placed at No 10 Detachment, Cape Scott, No 26 Detachment, Langara Island, and No 28 Detachment, Cape St. James at very little expense but considers No 11 Detachment, Ferrer Point and No 9 Detachment, Spider Island, greater expenditures are involved and require the services of No 9 CMU to aid in carrying out the work. Considerable clearing is involved and access plank roads are required at the latter mentioned Detachment. At Cape Scott the only requirement for mounting a gun is the construction of a plank platform.
