X-1 DETACHMENT JORDAN RIVER
April 14, 1944 to December 18, 1944

14 Apr 44

Inspected Gordon Head Detachment, everything in good order. Barrack Block could do with exterior paint job. Limited personnel making it difficult to keep grass and lawns in good shape but to date everything in good condition. Inspected Jordan River Unit, no complaints considering conditions under which personnel are working. Officer i/c Signals made inspection of Gordon Head along with OC in morning. Inspection and pay parade at XI Detachment held in afternoon. The OC and W/C Smith accompanied the Signals Officer.

2 May 44

F/O WE Ellis (C8989) Unit Chairman, 6th Victory Loan Campaign, and S/O HV Barker-Benfield (V30503) accompanied by F/O AD Solomon (V7181),Signals Officer, proceeded to X-1 Detachment, Jordan River, to canvas personnel for Victory Loan subscriptions.

4 May 44

Inspection of Gordon Head W/T Station and check of inventory by the Sigs-Radar Officer. Additional personnel posted to Jordan River thus bringing Detachment up to strength.

18 May 44

The Officer Commanding accompanied by S/L AB Tingey, Air Force HQ, and Unit Sigs-Radar Officer, visited X-1 Detachment, Jordan River, and made complete inspection of site and check on operation and function.

30 May 44

The Sigs-Radar Officer inspected X-1 Detachment, Operations and barracks at Jordan River, BC.

4 Jul 44

F/L Garland and F/O Solomon inspected X-1 Detachment, Jordan River.

23 Jul 44

An inspection and survey was conducted of X-1 Detachment, Jordan River by Command Radio Officer,S/L Hansen, Command W&B Officer, F/L Whiting, accompanied by Officer Commanding, Adjutant and Unit Signals Officer.

4 Aug 44

Inspection of X-1 Detachment, Jordan River conducted by Signals Radar Officer, and photographs taken of Station Site as requested by Western Air Command.

18 Aug 44

The Unit Signals Officer, F/L TE Daley and F/O AH McKinnon inspected X-1 Detachment, Jordan River and the proposed site for VHF Fixer Station at Glacier Point.

17 Sep 44

F/L DJ Patterson, Personnel Counsellor and F/L James, Padre, from RCAF Station, Patricia Bay, visited X-1 Detachment, Jordan River for purpose of counselling and welfare of airmen of that Detachment.

18 Oct 44

Visit and inspection of X-1 Detachment, Jordan River by F/L AE Bloch of No 3 RD, F/O CC Aston, (RO3) WAC, accompanied by the Unit Signals-Radar Officer and the Adjutant, inspection made of Operations site and Technical Equipment. The Adjutant, who is Chairman of the Unit Victory Loan Committee, made a complete canvas of all personnel of X-1 Detachment and the response received was very gratifying.

2 Nov 44

Visit and inspection was made of X-1 Detachment, Jordan River, by the Officer Commanding and the Signals-Radar Officer for the purpose of checking on new antenna and proposed erection of land-lines.

1 Dec 44

Inspection made of X-1 Detachment, Jordan River, by Officer Commanding, accompanied by Unit Signals Officer.

18 Dec 44

The Officer Commanding accompanied by P/O ED Campbell, proceeded to X-1 Detachment, Jordan River for the purpose of making an inspection and check on operational functions.
