430 Squadron Airshow Deployment

Extracts from 2 Wing Historical Report:

1 September 1953 - S/L Gibb, OC 430 Squadron left for Nice to arrange for a fly past.

4 September 1954 - Eight 430 aircraft, led by S/L Gibb, left for Nice today for a fly past. Ground crew going down by Bristol.

5 September 1953 - Eight Sabres of 430 (F) Squadron commanded by S/L PL Gibb participated and put on an excellent show at this fashionable holiday resort. Sonic booms of the Sabres broke windows and damaged a garage roof at Nice. A banquet was held at night.

6 September 1953 - Eight Sabres participated in an Air Show at Cannes. A banquet was held at night. F/O's Gagne and MacGregor were presented with a cup for their display of Sonic Booms.

7 September 1953 - CO and party returned from Cannes by air. The CO received the cup presented to 430 Squadron in honour of their presentation at the Air Show.

8 September 1953 - 430 Squadron aircraft returned from Cannes.
