7 Oct 53

The regular 40 passenger bus, DND vehicle 46A35-B51 was involved in a serious accident with a motorcycle driven by MR Christophe, of Hellimer, Moselle. The vehicles struck one another and Mr. Christophe was fatally injured. The driver of the bus was 38454 LAC R Hagley. A Board of Inquiry is being convened by Air Division HQ, F/L J Montgomery, DFC, President and F/O JFO Major, DFC, Member.

8 Oct 53

F/L J Montgomery arrived on unit and proceeded into the investigation involving the fatality to M Christophe of Hellimer.

7 Dec 53

A farewell party was tendered F/L GS Clarke, MEO and F/O DC Ewing, Security, in the Officers Mess. They are returning to Canada on repatriation.

4 Jan 54

Weather cold, heavy snow fall, roads very slippery and dangerous. Temperature hovering around zero. CO ordered ME units to be dispatched at a minimum outside the unit, and those so dispatched to proceed with caution. One station wagon veered off the road near Hellimer, the total damage amounting to approximately $150.00.

ME incidence of accidents still continues. At present eight boards are under investigation are under investigation and a new pick up ¾ ton enroute to the unit from Canada, in transit, suffered an accident in Metz.

F/L Reeves conducted an inspection of the unit ME Section.

15 Sep 54

Capt. G Turner, Air Division AJAG office paid a visit re a legal matter into an ME accident.

4 Jan 55

The roads are in very icy condition and most ME is confined to the station.

15 Feb 55

All off-Station vehicle traffic cancelled due to road conditions.

8 Aug 56

Cpl. H Norden of the ME Section was presented with a certificate as winner of "Safe Driving Competition".

14 Jun 57

The ME section held a section dance in the Rec. Centre this evening to pay tribute to F/O Vanziffle, the VMEO, who is on repatriation to Canada after completing his overseas tour.
