The Officers gathered at the Sgts. Mess at 1100 hours for refreshments, then led by CO and PMC Sgts. Mess, complete with garbage can drums, proceeded at 1200 hours to the Airmen's Mess to serve turkey dinner. The dinner was excellent. Christmas menus graced the table, free cigarettes were put out for all, and all the airmen and airwomen were a credit to the service in their behaviour. A chorus of Officers and NCOs sang carols at the conclusion of the meal to the delight of everyone. This Christmas was enjoyed by everyone even though there was no snow.

The members of the Sgts.' Mess took over the Rec. Centre for the early part of the evening as part of their members Supper night with some very screwy volleyball games, which means that rules gave way to fun. The Pool was also the battleground for hostilities with Dinghy Races (two men to a One man dinghy) and small naval battles being staged complete with human submarines. The members repaired to the normal scene of action (the Mess) around 2030 hours, to continue games of a more quiet nature.

The 2 Wing Sgts. Mess played host to the 3 Wing Sgts. Mess in a sports competition involving Ladies Bowling and Water Sports for the men. The feature events consisted of water polo, dinghy races and an over-the-pool tug of war. A dance was held in the home Mess that evening with suitable awards presented to the visiting 3 Wing Mess for their athletic prowess.
