Communiqué No. 3

By unanimous vote the Fantasian Bunderform (parliament) declared war on Westonia this a.m. This action climaxes a week of intensive political and military maneuvering. Westonian forces have overrun the Eiffel but have not yet crossed into other Fantasian territory. General Champcloche, Commander of the Saaralbe sector has stated quote, "They dare not pass" unquote.

Military experts predict that ground action will be negligible during the early stages of the war. Both countries have powerful air forces and the air battle is expected to wage furiously during the next week or so.

A short-wave radio report from Bistroff indicates that the North Bischvald squadron set sail today. This Fantasian fleet is composed of three gun boats and a converted yacht under the command of Admiral Eaudouce. This move is puzzling sea warfare experts since the Bischvald is an inland sea not bordering Westonia.

A report from Londonia, the capital of Wessex (an island country opposite Westonia) indicates that the Wessex government is preparing an ultimatum to be sent to both Westonia and Fantasia to stop the war by 2400 hours, 25 July, or she will destroy the war potential of both sides. Wessex has a powerful bomber force. Air experts believe that this threat will be carried out.

Meanwhile, it is reported that neutral Franconia, with borders on both Fantasia and Westonia, is increasing espionage activities. Large Franconian troop movements were also reported by residents near an important fighter air base. End of Communiqué.
