In a giant Turkey Bingo held this date, 50 turkeys and assorted prizes were won by a capacity crowd. The CO and COpsO went to Sardinia by T-33. Low cloud, some rain, gusty wind conditions. Normal flying.

The 3 Wing Flyers came down to 2 Wing and defeated very badly the 2 Wing Eagles by a score of 17 to 3. Accounts and 421 Squadron held their Christmas parties. The CO and COpsO arrived back from Sardinia. Low cloud, wet runway, gusty wind conditions. The first two F-86s landing had to flame out to stop. The third F-86 landed and went off the side of the runway. Other aircraft were diverted to 3 Wing. 3 Wing had too many diversions so 2 Wing decided to handle our own F-86s. The CF-100s went to 3 Wing and two of which who were low on fuel went to Ramstein.

Mug party at Officers’ Mess. Broken cloud condition. Aerodrome green during the morning. Semi-restricted flying after 1100 hours due to forecast of snow showers. In the afternoon, a heavy snow shower caused 10 jet aircraft to divert to 4 Wing.

A dinner and dance was held in the Officers’ Mess in honour of Captain De Malglaive and Madame De Malglaive our FLO. The Captain is on retirement from the FAF. He has been FLO since 2 Wing opened. The CO presented Madame De Malglaive with a piece of crystal. Weather good with a high crosswind. All squadrons flying. A533 with F/L Hanson as pilot went off runway.

Great day for the Indians of 421 Squadron. A parade was held at 421 Dispersal Area. Mr. Love presented regalia and head-dress to S/L Allatt the OC. From then on the fun began, the guest was captured and tied to a stake, suitably painted, released and smoked peace pipe with the OC. Mr. Love made an honorary member of the Squadron. this was a great day for the photographers. French and CBC TV attended and newspapers reports from Metz. A party was held in the Rec Centre in the evening and a movie on the Calgary Stampede was shown. A really good show on 421s part - and the onlookers enjoyed it too. Scattered cloud conditions today.

Funeral for LAC WRB McDonald who was killed at Algerho Sardinia was held today. Apparently he fell off a sea wall and died of injuries. Another group visited from the local mines. An explosion in the Merelebach mines this morning. Several doctors and specialists plus mine officials flown into 2 Wing. 109 Comm Flight on alert for Air Evac but not used. French Daks flew about 20 injured from here to Pairs and Lyon. Dining night for S/L GS Middleton the WArmO who is retiring after 31 ½ years in the RCAF. Overcast to broken. Usual flying.
