The Comet 1A

The Mk 1A had a reinforced structure and a MTOW of 110K lb, which was later increased to 115K lb. Additional fuel was carried in a center tank. First flight was on 11-Aug-52. First customer was Canadian Pacific Airlines. Engines were Ghost 50-Mk2. There were 10 Mk 1As built - two of which crashed. (One of these was CF-CUN belonging to Canadian Pacific Airlines and the other was F-BGSC belonging to Union Aeromaritime de Transport)
