AFTER ORDER


PART 1 ADMINISTRATION

DISCIPLINE - Parade - Visit of CAS

PURPOSE

The CAS, A/M CR Slemon CB, CBE, CD, will visit 1 (F) Wing, RCAF, Marville on 5 May 55.

TIME OF ARRIVAL

The CAS will arrive at 1 (F) Wing at 1500 hrs via service aircraft.

GUARD OF HONOUR

A Guard of Honour composed of 50 men of 1 (F) Wing will be mounted in front and centre of hollow square.

FORMATION

The Guard of Honour will be formed up in front and center of the hollow square as a flight in line in an open order formation.

DRESS (GUARD OF HONOUR ONLY)

#5A (working dress) with medals, white lanyards on left shoulder, white gloves and white leather chin strap will be worn.

ASSEMBLY POINT

The assembly point will be on the tarmac in front of the station workshops.

TIME OF ASSEMBLY

Time of assembly will be 1315 hrs.

CORDON D'HONNEUR

The Cordon d'Honneur will be composed of all airwomen of 1 (F) Wing.

FORMATION

The Cordon d'Honneur will be formed up in two ranks facing inwards at an interval of seven paces between ranks.

  1. Assembly point - No. 4 Hangar
  2. Time of Assembly - 1330 hrs.
  3. Dress - No. 5 (Walking out dress) with white lanyards on left shoulder and white gloves.

OC Cordon d'Honneur - F/L SC Strang

  1. While the CAS is inspecting the Guard of Honour the OC of Cordon d'Honneur is to proceed as follows:
    1. Give the command "Cordon D'Honneur outwards turn" (Airwomen will face the hollow square.)

    2. "Quick March" and the OC of the Cordon d'Honneur is to lead the airwomen behind the reviewing base, halt and form a semi-circle facing the hollow square.

PIPE BAND

The Pipe Band will form up on the right flank of hollow square as a band formation facing the review base.

STATION PARADE

PERSONNEL PARTICIPATING

All service personnel (Male) of 1 (F) Wing with the exception of the Guard of Honour and those whose duties require them to be off parade will form a hollow square.

ASSEMBLY POINT

Assembly point will be on the tarmac in front of #4 Hangar.

TIME OF ASSEMBLY

Time of assembly will be 1315 hrs.

DRESS

Officers - #5 (Walking Out Dress) with gloves. No great coats. Medals to be worn.

Airmen - #5 (Walking Out Dress). No great coats. Medals to be worn. Also boots ankle leather black.

FORMATION

Wing will fall in as a Wing in close column.

#1 Sqn will be composed of HQ Wing and 410 personnel.

#2 Sqn will be composed of Tech Wing personnel

#3 Sqn will be composed of 439 and 441 Sqn personnel

NOTES

  1. WO i/c of each sqn is to form up their respective sqn as one single flight in line with one arm interval distance between each man.

  2. On completion of the fall in of sqns as flights in line, the WWO will equalize and size the sqn concerned.

  3. The WWO will then form the hollow square on #3 sqn.

DRESSING

All squadrons will dress at a full arm interval 7 paces between flights.

Markers to report to the WWO 1320 hrs.
Advance by WWO - 1325 hrs.
Roll Call - 1327 hrs.
Size and equalizing by WWO - 1333 hrs.
Forming up a hollow square by WWO - 1340 hrs.
Guard of Honour march in to position in front and center of hollow square - 1345 hrs.
WWO turns over parade to Wing Adjt - 1347 hrs.
Wing Adjt turns over parade to OC Wing - 1348 hrs.
Fall in the Officers - 1349 hrs.
OC Wing proves hollow square - 1350 hrs
Tell of by Sqn - Guard of Honour - 1 - 2 - 3
Prepare hollow square for inspection (Open Order March, Right and Left dress, Markers to stand fast) - 1352 hrs.
Post Officers in review order - 1355 hrs
Stand the Wing at ease and await the arrival of CAS

NOTE: The reason for the advance time is so that a rehearsal parade may be held.

ARRIVAL OF CAS

As the CAS disembarks aircraft the Wing will be called to attention by the OC Wing. Then the Guard Commander orders the Guard of Honour to slope arms and as the CAS is in position on the saluting base, the OC Guard gives the command "General Salute Present Arms". All officers will salute on the third movement of the present. On completion of the general salute the command "Slope Arms" will be given by the OC of the Guard. All Officers will cut down their arms on the second movement of the slope. Then the Guard Commander of the Guard will proceed to meet the CAS. While the CAS inspects the Guard the OC Wing is to proceed to the left flank of the hollow square and await a signal from the CO 1 (F) Wing as to whether the CAS will inspect the hollow square or not. If the CAS inspects the hollow square, the Sqn commanders are to stand fast.

PRESENTATION OF INSIGNIA BADGES

On completion of the inspection the CAS will return to the reviewing base and will present the insignias. The 1 (F) Wing insignia will be received by OC Wing. Presentation of 439 (F) Sqn insignia will be received by the OC 439 Sqn.

A WO i/c HQ Sqn and WO i/c 439 Sqn will be responsible to detail a Sr NCO from their respective squadron to take the insignia badges from Adjt's and take same to #4 Hangar for safe-keeping.

MARCH PAST

On completion of the presentation of insignias and the CAS's speech, the OC Wing will give the command.

NOTE:

1

  1. Guard of Honour will act under the instruction of Guard Commander

  2. On completion of the CAS's speech the Wing will be brought to the posiiton of attention by OC Wing.

  3. Officers take post left turn, Quick March.

  4. Close order march

  5. Wing will march past in column of route right turn.

  6. Guard of Honour and Band take post

  7. The Guard Commander will give the following commands (for Guard and Band only).
    Close Order - March
    Slope Arms

    The Guard of Honour and Band will move to the right in column of route "right turn" Quick March.

2 As the Guard of Honour passes the head of No. 1 Squadron, the OC Wing will give the command - By the right quick march.

On arrival at approx 25 ft. from the saluting base, the following commands will be given in succession.

OC Wing - In succession by Sqns, "Eyes Right"
Guard Commander and Sqn Commanders as they reach approx 15 paces from the saluting base will give the command in succession by flights "Eyes Right" and the flight commanders as their respective flight arrives 15 paces from the saluting base will give the command "Eyes Right". "Eyes Front" will be given as their respective flight has passed the saluting base.

REFORMING ON COMPLETION OF MARCH PAST

A Marker will be posted by the OS on the area where the Wing will reform.

On arrival at marker on the right of the tarmac the guard of honour will proceed independently down the roadway leading to micro wave unit and be dismissed.

As the Wing arrives at marker on the far side of the tarmac the wing will make a left wheel and the OC will give the command "At the halt face left form close column". The Wing will reform as in a close column formation facing the supply section. The officers will be dismissed and then the troops will be dismissed independently by the WWO.

DEPARTURE GUARD

A departure guard composed of personnel of the guard of honour will form a cordon d'honneur ling the route leading to CAS aircraft. Guard of Honour will report to SWO at 0945 hrs 6 May at Stn. Armt. Section.

SUPERNUMERARY OFFICERS

410 Sqn is to supply nine F/O's to be supernumerary officers for HQ Sqn.

Tech Wing will make arrangements to have nine F/O's to be supernumerary officers of Tech Wing Sqn.

OC 439 Sqn will select nine F/O's out of 439 and 441 Sqn to be supernumerary officers of 439 and 441 Sqns.

NOTE:Officers detailed for supernumerary officers will divide themselves equally among the flights in their respective Sqn.

SALUTING ON THE MARCH (IN COLUMN OF ROUTE)

When a Wing marches past in column of route the Wing Commander, 2nd in Command, Wing Adjt, Squadron Commander, Squadron Adjt, and Flight Commanders, will salute with their right arm, supernumerary officers are to turn their head and eyes smartly to the required position.
