Wing Training Flight (T-33) Report

June 1957

OPERATIONS

  1. Flying

    A total of 125:50 hours were flown by Wing Training Flight during the month of June, and are broken down as follows:

    Air tests - 1:10
    439 Sqn - 7:10
    441 Sqn - 23:45
    445 Sqn - 12:15
    Hq & Wg Trg Flt - 35:50
    C45 - 45:40

    Included in the above, the following instrument hours were flown:

    Also there was a total of 24:30 hours flown on the Flight Simulator before it went completely unserviceable. There were four instrument ratings renewed. Instrument time was quite low for the month as 439 Sqn was preparing to go to Sardinia and two pilots from Wing Training Flight spent the month with 439 Sqn. The remaining pilots flew Zulu with 441 Sqn.

    F/O Boyd went to Ramstein USAF AFB on an Air-Ground Operations Course.

F/L Lee left on leave prior to returning to Canada, going to AFHQ in Ottawa.


July 1957

    During the month of July Wing Training Flight flew a total of 163:00 hours, broken down as follows:

    Only 19:30 hours of Flight Simulator time were logged because 439 Sqn has been in Sardinia for 1 - 16 Jul and 441 Sqn has been on Zulu quite steadily.

  5. Pilot Strength: - 6. F/L Lee has returned to Canada. F/L MacMillan new OC.

August 1957

  6. Flying Time: - 118:45 hours. All instrument times were low because 441 Sqn went to Sardinia taking 3 T-33 pilots along and 439 Sqn had a steady diet of Zulu.


October 1957

    During the month of October, Wing Training Flight flew a total of 239:15 hours broken down as follows:

    One accident, the first consisted of F/O Crouch losing a panel on an airtest.

  6. Flying Time: - 215:20 hours. The month started very well but then 445 Sqn plus 2 T-33s and F/Os Boyd and Swanston cheerfully left for Sardinia.
