445 Squadron personnel held a Christmas Party for the children at the Orphanage in Leme, France.

22 Dec 60

Airwomen of 1 (F) Wing presented the Sedan Children's Orphanage with a washing machine and Christmas baskets.

29 Dec 60

A/C Birchall and G/C Edwards arrived at the unit to discuss air transportation familiarization and facilities in connection with the proposed CC-106 plans for movement of personnel and freight.

4 Jan 61

Dr Celik, professor from Turkey arrived in the course of his tour of NATO. The purpose of his tour, to study the effect of NATO personnel on the native populace.

Dr Snow, a missionary from India visited the unit in the course of a tour of Air Division units. She spoke at PMQs and was entertained at lunch in the Officers' Mess.

Belgium Air Force from Bovechien on exchange with 445 Squadron.

Band played for the Mid-lent Parade in Florenville, Belgium.

23 Mar 61

1 (F) Wing Golf Driving Range opened by the CO.

FS Pyatt and Sgt Robson commissioned to F/O effective 1 Apr 61.

A special commendation was presented to FS Gagne of the unit Firehall for Honourable Mention in the Fire Prevention campaign.

During the latter part of the month the French Air Force from Criel performed an exchange with 439 Squadron.

F/O Kovar, 445 Squadron, killed in an auto crash at Mannheim, Germany. Funeral at RC Chapel 2 Jun with internment at Choloy, France.

Lady Banting of AFHQ visited the unit in the course of a tour of all Continental units and spoke to all the airwomen on the station.

18 May 61

Fifty French Reserve Officers visited the unit.

4 May 61

An anniversary mess dinner and dance commemorating the 20th anniversary of airwomen in the RCAF was held in the Airmen's Mess. Among the guests were W/C Enstone, SOPA for 1 Air Division, and S/L Sutherland, who enrolled the first airwoman in the RCAF. The latter was speaker for the dinner.

7 May 61

Band was featured at the International Horse Show at Kaiserslautern, Germany.

10 May 61

SCEO of the unit went to Bar-le-Duc to open bids for the new AMU Building.

14 May 61

Band played at the National Sports Day at St. Leger, Belgium.

15 May 61

5 Movements Unit was formed under the Supply Section until facilities are available to operate independently. Unit moved from Langar in preparation for the CC-106 operation.

15 May 61

At a special ceremony in the CO's Officer, F/L R McGarva was presented with a personal letter of commendation from the CAS, in recognition of his personal dedication and sterling leadership qualities as Captain of the RCAF Gunnery Team and his contribution to the standard of gunnery proficiency in 1 Air Division.

23 - 25 May 61

3 day Civil Defense Course for wardens was given by the Wing Defense Section.
