13th to 19th July 1959 -- 439 Squadron prepared for deployment to Rocroi.

20th to 26th July 1959 -- 439 Squadron flew to Rocroi on Monday afternoon, 20th July, and got settled in with a minimum of confusion. S/L Day's funeral was held on Tuesday, 21st July, and the whole Squadron attended. On Tuesday evening personnel returned to Rocroi by bus. The weather during the first part of tent living was excellent and flying was fairly heavy. Zulu started on Wednesday, 22nd July, with each section getting a practice scramble each day. The weekly total by Sunday evening was 148 sorties and 164:55 hrs.

27th July to 31st July 1959 -- Zulu finished for 439 Squadron at Rocroi on Wednesday afternoon, 29th July, and rain started at the same time. On Thursday, 30th July, flying was washed out completely, and Friday, 31st July, the Squadron was finally able to take-off at noon for the return to 1 (F) Wing at Marville.
