Hugh Gillis was employed at the Frankfurt Liaison Office in Frankfurt Germany between 1986 and 1990. Hartmut Trefzger was in the German Luftwaffe, and was employed at Rhein Radar in Karlsruhe. Together, they collaborated on the Airspace Familiarization Training that was delivered at Karlsruhe to new Canadian controllers in Europe.

Hugh Gillis died on 2 March 2005.
