Line Technology

Line is a key technology upon which all early electrical communications systems were based. The actual wire needed for these systems was developed slowly with low-loss, multi-conductor cables first becoming available in the 1890s.

Line was used extensively during World War I and in all subsequent military operations. Although still widely used, the metallic conductors are now supplemented by fibre optic cables.
